If we could understand the squeaks and clicks of whale language, "Love us don't hunt us" would surely be the sentiment.
A new homeware range from the makers of the popular Kidsroom label aims to bring a whale welfare message to New Zealanders.
It’s a theme that’s close to the heart of Kidsroom founder and director Kirstin Bailey, who designed the range in partnership with talented stylist Anna Church. With the world’s attention focused on wider issues such as global warming, the inhumane treatment of whales has slipped off the radar. “We’re keen to raise public awareness that these animals desperately need our help,” she says.
In teaming up with Project Jonah, the range effectively puts its money where its mouth is, with $2 from each cushion sold going to help protect the very animals which inspired the idea.
Project Jonah was thrilled when Kirstin suggested working together. The new Gorgi range dovetails perfectly with our mission of protecting whales, dolphins and seals from cruelty and suffering.
The result is a range that’s tasteful and elegant. Despite its hard-hitting message, it’s subtle and positive in its approach. Not to mention highly desirable to lovers of both whales and New Zealand design.
The Gorgi “Love Us Don’t Hunt Us” range includes sheets, pillowcases, duvet covers and cushions crafted from high-quality 100% cotton in a striking neutral palette. To view the full range go to www.gorgi.co.nz
