Beach Cleanup Co-ordinator


We’re passionate about keeping New Zealand clean. We guess you are too.

Sadly billions of tonnes of rubbish makes its way into the ocean each year killing, maiming and injuring marine mammals, and polluting the ecosystems they depend on. Keeping our oceans clean is a big job, but the good news is we can all do something about it. 

We need Beach Cleanup Co-ordinators around the country to run monthly beach cleanups. Training will be provided.  Is this the job for you?

Role

Position: Beach Cleanup Co-ordinator
Reports to: CEO
Time commitment: 2 - 3 half days a month
Task Location: Varies
Salary: Unpaid / Voluntary

Skills

You'll need the following abilities, skills and personality traits:
  • Be friendly and outgoing and have good people skills
  • Be able to talk confidentally in front of others and have good presentation skills
  • Be able to prioratise and problem solve and self manage
  • Have excellent people management skills
  • Have a current drivers licence and access to a vehicle
  • Have good physical fitness

Tasks

  • Liaise with local council
  • Conduct a site visit of the proposed clean up site
  • Complete health and safety audit of site
  • Promote event on online forums and with posters and flyers
  • Prepare materials for cleanup event
  • Brief volunteers on health and safety and assign them tasks
  • Compile data from cleanup
